Our mission
Banking belongs in business software
Many software companies already serve small businesses incredibly well: helping them send invoices, run payroll, manage inventory, and more. They’re on a mission to become the central hub for managing every aspect of business life.
But when it comes to financial workflows, there’s still a gap. Too many critical tasks like managing cash flow, tracking payments, or reconciling accounts happen outside the software, across spreadsheets, email threads, banking portals.
It’s a missed opportunity. Business software shouldn’t just record financial activity — it should run it.

Job description
Swan is looking for a Lead Financial Controller to join our high-performing Finance team as we continue our rapid growth across Europe.
In this key leadership role, you’ll head up our growing accounting team and play a central part in shaping our financial operations. Reporting directly to our CFO, you’ll work hand-in-hand with our external accounting partner to manage the full accounting scope, ensure compliance, and drive process improvements.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a fast-paced fintech environment where your expertise will directly impact Swan’s financial strategy and success.
✨ Main tasks
Own & drive Accounting Operations
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings in PCEC (plan comptable des établissements de crédit). Prepare our monthly financial statements. Develop and execute our strategy to optimize closing efficiency (reliability & speed).
- Own the different processes paramount to Swan’s financial health (Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Treasury Management, etc), and manage the implementation of strategic tools essential to Swan’s scaling.
- Manage our existing European subsidiaries in relationship with our local accountants, and setup the accounting framework for our new country openings.
Manage Banking Accounting scope
- Perform reconciliation and resolve potential spreads or pending operations.
- Serve as the company's expert on banking accounting matters, partnering with other departments, and advising with respect to accounting implications (product launch, internal control policies, etc.)
- Prepare our quarterly regulatory reporting on our financial statements and capital requirements (RUBA/COREP) for the Banque de France (ACPR), and our European stakeholders.
Team Management
- Lead and manage the accounting team, offering guidance, mentorship, and coaching to support team development.
- Oversee people management efforts, including recruitment, performance evaluations, career growth, and employee retention.
Preferred experience
✨ You’re a great match if:
- You have 7+ years of experience in accounting / financial audit (start-up experience is a plus, but not necessary). Additionally, you must have prior experience in a management role.
- You have already worked in an international environment, overseeing branches and subsidiaries (experience with UK is a plus).
- You're rigorous and organized: your approach is meticulous, with a keen attention to detail in all aspects of your work.
- You’re autonomous and proactive: you know how to manage your priorities and are able to adapt to changing conditions.
- You embrace challenges: you're enthusiastic about tackling complex tasks and thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- You’re tech-savvy: you're already proficient or willing to become proficient with modern accounting tools. You like technology and automation.
- You have advanced Excel and Google Suite skills: you're adept at using these tools to manipulate data and create detailed reports.
- Our ideal teammate: Empathetic. Skilled. Frank. We love to challenge each other, and we leave our egos at the door.
- You're Fluent in English: You possess at least a C1 level in English, enabling effective communication in our international environment.
It’s okay if you don’t tick all the boxes — don’t let imposter syndrome prevent you from applying! 🙌
